When everyone else was tucking into Easter Eggs and shovelling snow, the 400 competitors for the 8th Annual Halton Road Race were limbering up at Runcorn Railway Station to enjoy the sunshine and the impending race.
Supported by Halton Borough Council, O2 and Hale Parish Council, the race has now become established in the North West Calendar of true road racing for athletes of all abilities. It is one of the few Road Races which actually runs on the roads that are closed to traffic.
A lot of late entries meant the race organisers had their work cut out to produce results. However, once the final competitors had finished, a full set of finishers was collated and the runners found out how they had faired.

Andrew Worsey from O2, presented the trophies along with The Mayor of Halton, Cllr Mike Hodgkinson and the Lord Mayor of Hale Village Mal Sutton.
Andrew was amazed by the number of dedicated volunteers and the runners who turned out for the race. “O2 can be proud to have supported such a community based race. With such a turn out from Halton and the surrounding areas, it gives us one of the best opportunities we have to make contact with local people, some of whom work for us at our base in Preston Brook.”
